Today, all over Canada, people are talking about mental health.  Through telecom giant Bell, today, for every #BellLetsTalk hashtag used on Twitter, every text message to another Bell customer, and every Facebook share of the above image, Bell will donate 5¢ to mental health initiatives.  So far today almost 3 million tweets alone have been recorded.

What’s so amazing about this initiative is that our Canadian friends are chipping away any stigmas associated with mental health disorders.  People are sharing their stories in the hope of encouraging others that no one is alone.  Meanwhile, here at home, the big story is whether or not Kim and Kanye will have another baby.

It’s so important to support one other and not judge each other.  From personal experience, I know how easy it is to hide behind a smile while you try to appear ‘normal’ to the general public.  I know how to look strong while I’m barely holding things together.  I suffer from anxiety and have suffered from crippling panic attacks. But I’m getting better, thanks to the grace of God, a loving husband, and supportive friends.  Mental health is a big deal that affects so many and the stigma surrounding it needs to be stripped away.  So bravo, Canadian friends!  Keep the conversation going.  For the rest of us, let’s talk.
