Today’s the day. After months of planning, attending countless meetings and wrangling music acts, Chords for a Cause is here.
My husband, Chuck, put together this musical benefit and all proceeds will go the the Monroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. One of our favorite hang outs, Dan McGuiness Irish Pub, is hosting the event and musical acts from Jerrod Niemann to Love and Theft will be performing. The concert is free but donations are strongly encouraged. Every cent will go to the Children’s Hospital.
This is not the first benefit my husband has organized. Back in 2009, he organized a benefit for the crash victims of flight 3407. We were living in Buffalo at the time and it was natural to want to help people and lift their spirits. A year later, when Nashville was flooded, he put on two benefits for musicians who lost instruments – one took place in Buffalo and a few months later the second one took place in Nashville.
Though our life is far from perfect, we both have huge hearts and want to give back, however little, to the community. I think it’s important to look out for each other, lend a hand or an ear and just let people know they aren’t alone. So many people have helped us in the past and we want to help others whenever we can. Life can be hard, but it can be beautiful, especially when we help each other.
